Disconnect to Reconnect: Finding Peace Beyond the Screen

Hello Beautiful Souls,

You know that feeling when you step outside, take a deep breath, and just be?

That’s exactly what I did, those who follow me on Facebook and Instagram have already seen as I shared it with you in my reel. This past Sunday-No-Scroll Sunday as usual for me (this is what I planned for myself when I started this website and other social media platforms)-no notifications, just pure presence. And let me tell you, it felt like a deep breath for my soul.

Oh, and no, this doesn’t need to be Sunday for you-it could be any other day or time that works best for you.

I traded screen time for sunshine, swapped WiFi for wild trails, and let the Lake District work its magic. I was so blessed because the weather was pure bliss that day, spoiling us in the UK with high temperatures and a clear blue sky.

The result? A mind that felt lighter, a heart that felt fuller, and an energy boost that carried into the week. And from the incredible comments you shared, I know many of you felt the pull toward this kind of mindful reset, too. So, let’s talk about it!

Why Unplugging Feels Like Freedom

We live in a world where our phones constantly demand our attention, or for some, I know it could be the TV or any other tech. But here’s the truth: when we put them down, or switch them off like the TV, we start to reconnect-with nature, with people, and most importantly, with ourselves.

So many of you shared how much you loved the idea of unplugging. Some of you already set mindful digital boundaries (like the brilliant one-hour-in-the-morning, one-hour-in-the-evening rule- LOVE this!). The key is being intentional. When was the last time you fully savoured a moment without feeling the need to capture or share it?

Try this: Set a time each day, even if it’s just 5-30 minutes, where you put your phone away and simply be. Walk outside, sip your tea without distractions, or just sit in silence.

It’s in these moments that clarity, creativity, and deep peace arise.

Personally, I really cherish those moments, especially early in the morning, where all the magic happens to lead to a great day overall. As I often repeat-"Beautiful Day begins with a beautiful Mindset." :)

The Healing Power of Nature

The Lake District, as usual, wrapped me up in its beauty, and I felt something shift inside. There’s just something about nature that resets us—it’s like hitting a refresh button on your mind and soul.

Your comments reminded me that so many of you feel the same. Even if it’s still chilly where you are, stepping outside for fresh air, even for five minutes, can be powerful. Nature is therapy, and it’s free!

Takeaway: If you can, get outside today -even if it’s just to feel the sun (or the crisp air) on your skin. Nature is always ready to embrace you.

Mindful Digital Boundaries is More Inner Peace

One of my favourite comments was from someone who keeps their phone mostly on the counter throughout the day-such a simple but powerful habit!

Yes, it’s not something everyone can do on a daily basis, as I know a lot of you work through your phone or laptop (me too!), but I believe we can all try to create short time-off windows. The truth is, we don’t have to be available 24/7. Your peace matters more than any notification-if you remember, we spoke about it last week.

If going completely offline for a day feels overwhelming, start small:

  • Turn off notifications for an hour.

  • Put your phone in another room while you eat.

  • Swap one scrolling session for journaling, stretching, or just sitting in stillness.

I like to walk to the window and watch in slow motion the view behind.

Mindfulness isn’t about doing more-it’s about being more present.

Embracing the Season You’re In

Some of you mentioned that it’s still very wintry where you are (I hear you! In the UK, it’s the same-and if on Sunday I enjoyed the sun, then on Monday morning my early run was in crisp low temperatures). But the seasons are changing, and it’s up to us how we adapt. We can’t control the weather, but we can embrace it, right?

If the weather keeps you indoors, try this:

  • Light a candle and journal your thoughts.

  • Create a dream board (my favourite thing to do several times a year).

  • Sit and write down what you want to achieve, dream.

  • Listen to calming music and simply breathe.

  • Create a cosy corner where you can sit and watch the world outside (I pull a chair closer to the window, wrap up in a blanket, and read my favourite book or just sip tea or coffee).

Presence isn’t about where you are-it’s about how fully you show up.

Why the Lake District?

It was like love at first sight-no feeling has ever been the same. I felt it deep in my heart, and it’s so hard to explain. Just three hours away from my home is a totally different world. And nothing, nothing has changed since the first day. Every time I go, we just get to know each other better :)

The energy I get there is unlike anywhere else. As I mentioned in previous articles, for some time I’ve been having counselling therapy, and funnily enough, every Monday, my therapist could tell through her smile whether I’d been to the Lakes or not-just by how I looked and felt overall. Her takeaway for me? “Please do go when you feel you need it, as it really does make a difference to your mental health.”

For me, this is the place. But for you, I believe you have your own special place( or 'My Happy Place' how I call it) -no matter where you are in the world. I’d love to hear about it!

If you’re happy to share, inspire me with your favourite spots. That would be amazing!

The Energy We Share

Your warmth, kindness, and good vibes in the comments filled my heart. You reminded me why I love sharing these moments with you.

The truth is, when we take care of ourselves-mind, body, and soul-it radiates.

The more peace you cultivate within, the more you bring to those around you.

So keep filling your cup, keep protecting your energy, and keep shining.

Your No-Scroll Challenge

If my No-Scroll Sunday inspired you, I challenge you to try it! Even if it’s just for a few minutes or hours, put your phone aside, go for a walk, journal, meditate-whatever makes you feel alive.

And when you do? Tell me about it! Drop a comment, send a message-I’d love to hear how it felt for you. Let’s make this a movement of mindful, present living.

Sending you all so much love and light,

Eva

In this article, as always, I’ve included my own pictures from the Lake District, Thirlmere, to bring a little beauty, bliss, and serenity to your screen.
